GEN III Overview

Flaws in Conventional Air-conditioning

Conventional reverse cycle air-conditioning is designed with three inherent flaws:

1. Limited Zones

Standard systems divide your home into only four or five zones. This means that in large homes, several rooms are grouped together in each zone.

2. Single thermostat, fixed air quantity.

Standard systems are controlled by a single thermostat. As there is no way to measure the actual temperature in each room, all rooms receive the same amount of conditioned air and you end up with hot and cold spots throughout the home.

The only control you have over air allocation is to manually turn zones on or off.

3. Wasteful dump zone.

Standard systems have a built-in dump zone that must remain permanently open as a “pressure relief valve” for excess air build-up. It will receive conditioned air at all times, regardless of whether that area is being used.

The Gen III Difference

Unlike standard systems, Gen III gives you unprecedented control and comfort as energy efficiently as possible. It achieves this holy grail of air-conditioning, because:

1. Each room is zoned individually.

As rooms are not grouped together as they are in conventional systems, you only need to condition the zones you are using, greatly reducing running costs.

2. Every room has its own temperature sensor.

Unlike other multi-zone systems that need you to turn zones on and off, Gen III has a temperature sensor in every room so they manage themselves automatically. This allows you to set a different temperature for each room, or a consistent temperature throughout your home, and the system will accurately maintain your selected temperature, regardless of a room’s use, or orientation to the sun.

3. Precise temperature control means you use less energy.

Because there’s no energy wasted over-conditioning rooms, the Gen III is 26% more energy efficient than single thermostat systems. This figure rises to 38% when you add on our Fresh Air option. (See CSIRO report)

4. No dump zone.

Gen III does not need to use one of your rooms as a dump zone as it cleverly recycles any excess conditioned air through the system which boosts performance and gets the job done faster when you are only conditioning 1 or 2 rooms. This leads to lower running costs, and importantly, eliminates the discomfort caused by over-conditioning a designated dump zone.

5. Extensive scheduling.

Save energy by setting your system to go on before your house gets too hot or cold. Gen III has a simple 24 hour timer, or you can manually schedule up to 16 instructions to allow you to program a week in advance.

6. Easy to use colour touch screen.

The entire system is controlled by a colour touch screen that offers a very user-friendly way to operate the system. You can even customise preset favourites so you can set the required conditions for every room with a single touch.

HOW GEN III WORKS

1. You select the temperature you want for each of the rooms in use via the colour touch screen.

2. Sensors in each room measure the temperature and pass the information to the Master Control Unit.

3. The Master Control Unit collates all the information and then sends messages to motors attached to Exact Air Regulators in the ducting to control the airflow. As the rooms reach the desired temperature they automatically close. When the last room reaches temperature the system turns off.

Optional EST (Energy Save Technology)

Gen III also offers a premium EST option in which the indoor and outdoor unit can be upgraded to state of the art digitally controlled technology. In some applications, this can significantly increase flexibility whilst reducing running costs even further.

4. The EST indoor fan will automatically ramp between 10% and 100% of its output to provide only the required amount of air for the number of zones in use, so there is no noisy excess airflow or energy use.

5. Digital Energy Save Technology allows the compressor to match demand, by seamlessly ranging anywhere between 100% and 10% of its capacity within seconds. The best part is that the system’s power consumption closely tracks these adjustments to lower running costs.

6. Exact Air Regulators open or close allowing the correct amount of air through to achieve the nominated temperature.
